When scientific and medical advances are often greeted with as much criticism as praise, what are the challenges faced by medical journalists who report on such developments?   How do they help the public distinguish between scientific dis-coveries and the critics whose views are based on religious beliefs or economic self-interest?  How do journalists deal with the dilemma of reporting on new scientific studies that are often countered with opposing claims?  Panelists:   Blythe Bernhard, medical reporter for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch; Veronique LaCapra, Ph.D., science reporter/editor for St. Louis Public Radio/NPR; Robert Kindle, executive director, Hope Happens.  Moderator:  Barbara Langsam Shuman, writer/co-producer/co-director, "The Stem Cell Divide" documentary.
