National Media Person of the Year Award

The St. Louis event of the season, the first Jack Buck National Media Person of the Year Scholarship Award Dinner and Gala.
The Press Club’s Nov. 28 gala at the Ritz Carlton, “Like Father, Like Son”, will honor Jack Buck’s son, acclaimed national sportscaster, Joe Buck.
“When naming the award to honor the late sports broadcasting icon Jack Buck, the Press Club members realized the natural choice for the first recipient was Joe - for his own pre-eminence in the broadcasting world and for his many notable contributions to media excellence,” Alice S. Handelman, club president, said.
Anheuser-Busch is the Presenting
Sponsor of the event, which starts with a cocktail reception at 6 p.m., followed
by the award dinner and program
at 7 p.m.
The honorary chairmen are Jerry Clinton, St. Louis businessman and philanthropist, and Ed Goren, president
of Fox Sports Network. Marty Hendin of the Cardinals is advisory chair, and KMOX’s multi-talented Charles Brennan promises an entertaining
evening as Master of Ceremonies.
Tim McCarver and Dan Dierdorf are already on board as roasters and toasters.
In addition to special table treats for guests, the Bob Kuban Band will perform. During the program, Joe will be presented with a Tiffany’s crystal award, which will be a small replica of his father’s statue that sits outside of Busch Stadium.
This gala is expected to be an early sell-out. Sponsor tables are $5000 and $2500 and individual tickets are1 $500 and $200. Contact the Press Club at 636-230-1973 for more information.
