Senior Information Specialist for Video Production -University Advancement
Basic Function & Responsibility
To provide campus clients with superior HD video production support for advertisements, events, media placements and Web sites.
Characteristic Duties
Develop video concepts, scripts and storyboards.
Plan and set up production stage including lighting, sound, and camera and subject placement.
Operate HD video cameras and sound equipment. Capture, transfer and log all selected video files into a digital media system.
Perform expert level editing, including incorporating filters, titling, motion graphics, audio sweetening, and image handling to achieve desired results.
Perform motion graphic rendering, audio and video conversion and compression, and uploading content to the UMSL website, UMSL Newsroom, and for social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. Experience with live-streaming video like USTREAM, YouTube, or Skype for events a plus. Maintain video, editing, lighting and sound equipment.
Perform other duties as outlined by supervisor.
Supervision Received
Direct supervision is received from the Manager of Web and Electronic Communications and Associate Vice Chancellor.
Supervision Exercised
Functional supervision is exercised over departmental assistants, student interns and external vendors.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in film & television production, photography, communications or related fields. Three to five years of professional experience in shooting and editing HD-quality video in a studio, news or institutional setting. Qualified candidates must be able
to work with Mac based programs, including Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Pro, and Adobe CS5, Production Premium, the full Microsoft Suite, including PowerPoint, digital video and still cameras, lighting kits and sound recording equipment.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience using Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Canon EOS-5D Mark II.

Senior Information Specialist for Public Relations-University Advancement
Basic Function & Responsibility
To provide media relations and public relations support to colleges and departments, as well as for general activities of University Advancement – including content for social media.
Characteristic Duties
Develop ideas, write and edit news articles, feature stories and materials for various media channels to inform internal and external publics of University activities.
Handle inquires from news media and other external sources regarding the specific colleges or departments.
Confer with and advise University faculty and staff concerning the planning and proper use of public relations approaches to meet their needs and assume responsibility for such activities as assigned.
Gather information and offer assistance in the preparation of speeches and other presentations for University officials.
May be responsible for maintaining media placement archive system.
May be responsible for providing photographic services.
Other duties as assigned.
Supervision Received
Direction is received from the Assistant Director of Media Relations and Associate Vice Chancellor.
Supervision Exercised
Functional supervision is exercised over projects, department assistants, student workers and external vendors.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations or related areas. Three to five years of related experience is necessary.
