St. Louis (June 28, 2010) - The Press Club of Metropolitan St. Louis and the Journalism Foundation announced the recipients of 12 journalism and communication scholarships at a reception on June 30. The reception was held at Lumen Private Events, 2201 Locust, in conjunction with the VIP Meet and Greet for Mike Shannon--The Press Club's upcoming Media Person of the Year.  The scholarships total $16,960. The students selected for the scholarships show hard work, intelligence and dedication in their chosen field of journalism or communication.

In order to qualify for the scholarships, the applicants had to be sophomore, junior, senior or graduate students from or attending a university in the St. Louis bi-state area and pursing a career in a communication or journalism related field. The applicants also had to submit an essay, work samples and a letter of recommendation from a communication professor. The recipients of the scholarships were chosen from over 20 applications.
